Flags

How to use flags to select shipments and orders based on dynamic criteria

What is a Flag?

A flag is a set of conditions that an order or shipment can meet. You can have any number of flags in the system. Each shipment either meets the conditions for a flag (it is active) or it does (it is inactive). Flags actually operate at the order level but if the conditions are met for any order, the entire shipment is flagged.

An Example

You may have a flag called "Late Container Unloading" which is defined by meeting all of the following conditions:

  1. The shipment arrived at least seven days ago

  2. The unload date has not been entered yet

The system automatically activates the flag for every shipment in the system.

What are Flags used for?

Flags are a useful way to automatically identify a set of shipments. This versatile system can be used to build reports, identify critical situations, and notify operators or partners of some event.

Visually flags appear in three places. These are all optional.

  1. Flags can appear on the Left Menu so that they are visible on every page. In this case the number of shipments currently flagged appear beside the flag name. If there are no shipments flagged, the flag will not appear.

  2. Flags can appear on the dashboard where each flag has a separate section. In this case a limited number of shipments will appear in the section.

  3. Flags can appear in the shipment table (in the Flags column).

In addition, when viewing a shipment all active flags will be shown.
